I was gonna post something about the whole election thing, but i think that too much has been said about it already. So i'll simply say one quick thing.
I hate how everything has jumped to the fact that we have an african american president. He's half black. yes, but he's also half white, I have a friend who's an MK from africa, who was telling me about how he would be viewed as being white there. And I just think it's funny, we put so much emphasis on it. On the color of his skin? Really america? I thought we broke free from that.
Also, i'm sad prop 4 didn't pass, and i'm glad prop 8 did. And I have no idea if prop 1 passed or not, i can't find it anywhere, but i really hope it did, cause how awesome would that be to jump on a train in anaheim and be in san francisco in two hours? So awesome.
In other news, I've been hanging out with my friends wayyyy too much. I love them all so much, but i've been neglecting homework. The thing is, when people are like.. hey come do this fun activity, I would much rather do that then be responsible and do homework. I haven't missed anything yet.. but it's starting to pile up.
Also, I got a job? I don't know if said that before. Well yesterday we started the main part of it.. and it's so awkward/intimidating. I have to call old alumni and donors and people, and sometimes when i call old people it's awesome, cause they're so sweet, like talking to grandpas and grandmas but sometimes.. i think i want to shoot myself. please pray that i'll have more confidence.
and less confidence in other areas.. haha..
p.s. I'm so excited to go to colorado and see my younger siblings!! I can't wait. :D

I think it's hard for us to understand the joy the African American community feels, because we're white. Our collective unconscious is not the same as theirs. On top of the fact that we live in CA. Our racism is more subtle out here, so we think that race isn't an issue anymore. But the Rodney King riots weren't all that long ago.
From different soundbytes i've heard, African Americans feel that this is a big step on the road to breaking free from race.

Bite me Nick, you racist prick. I'm native American - Blackfoot, Sioux and Navajo. White, black, yellow whatever, you are all trespassers who have stolen our land. Obama is mostly white - 1/2 caucasian, and the other half is an unknown mix of Arabic and Black races. To me and my members of my tribe, you are ALL white intruders. Rodney King DESERVED what he got and more. What about the other 3 guys in the car who didn't resist arrest and didn't get beaten? Black people were just slaves, sold into slavery by fellow black people. What can you surmise about a race that has 85% of it's births as bastards? Native Americans were victims of genocide. You whiner. Obama's election means nothing. It proves nothing except Republican incompetance. How much do you want to bet Obama never lives to take the oath of office? Obama violated so many federal laws in his campaign that he'll end up in prison before he even gets close to the White House. Hey Nick, come up to northern Idaho and we'll show you a good time.
